Happy Holidays

Dear friends,

I would first like to kick off this email with a huge thank you to everyone who came to see us at Compton Verney for the annual Cotswolds Antique Dealers Association Fair. It was lovely to see familiar faces once again and meet a host of new ones. I would also like to offer a special thanks to those who made purchases. It was so refreshing to see a bustling fair once again with numbers up from last year; it was a very positive outlook for what has become a staple event for Jacksons Antique.

We are now into December and the festive period, which means the opening day of Classic Antique Fair’s first exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham. Our stand is up, and we are ready for a busy weekend ahead. We are really looking forward to being back at the NEC as we have built a close relationship with many of you who attend.

This month’s newsletter leans towards Japanese taste with several charming pieces, including a Meiji Period Silver & Enamel ‘Three Wise Monkeys’ Box signed by Komyo 光明, who worked for the renowned Uyeda company.

We also have a superb quality Meiji Period Cloisonne Enamel Koro signed in the Enamel by Tsukamoto Hikokichi. The Koro quality rivals those at the top of the Golden Era of Cloisonne enamel and it a fine example of its type.

Finally, away from the Japanese collection, we have a beautifully carved Italian Carrara marble bust of Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Octavius. You may well know them better as the heir to Julius Caesar Octavius. Later Octavian ruled as emperor from 27 until his death in AD14. The marble truly encapsulates the naturalistic carving of the original sculpture in the Vatican collection in the Pius Clementine Museum, Gallery of the Busts. The bust dates to the 18th/19th century and stands upon a circular marble base.
