Welcome Friends
An order of Sunshine please…
As we are propelled into the British Summer, Wimbledon is underway, the strawberries and cream have made their first appearances, and the glorious British sunshine has arrived with more on the way. We have been searching high and low to replenish stock after a very successful first half of the year. I personally would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the business in the first half of 2023. It is extremely humbling to have such great support and as a newer business in the trade (compared to most!) I am very thankful for the continued business.
Last week, we made a trip across to the new Treasure House Fair, which has blossomed from multiple fair closures. It was located in the Royal Chelsea Hospital grounds in a purpose-built marquee and featured a host of antique dealers from near and far. It was lovely to enjoy a fair from a consumer’s point of view rather than an exhibitor’s. The sun shone down, and we had an excellent day meeting friends and networking with dealers throughout the day.
Featured this week, we have some beautiful new stock added to our collection with a variety of objects from Japan to Europe in a mix of subjects. We have purchased a few new pieces of Japanese Satsuma from the world-renowned Kinkozan workshop, all dating to the Meiji Period(1868-1912). We have posted a bowl decorated with Boys, Scholars and Samurai Warriors and a Vase decorated with landscape scenes and Bijin with Children. We have more in the pipeline, so watch this space!

We have also managed to get our hands on another Singing Musical Bird Box, as the last one lasted a couple of seconds before it was snapped up by a client in Texas; this particular one dates to the Art Deco period Circa 1930 and is signed by Karl Griesbaum with classical enamel decoration, it is in wonderful condition and comes complete with the original Bird topped winding key.

Finally another stand out lot for us is the Black Forest dog group featuring a litter of smooth coat St. Bernard puppies with their mother, the group is exceptionally carved and has fantastic colour adding to the already naturalistic carving. The group is attributed to Walter Mader, a known Black Forest dog group carver during the late 19th century.

As we are now heading into the summer, our next fair will not be until autumn; therefore, our main focus will be adding to our online catalogue and reaching our clients via our exclusive newsletter. We are having a huge drive via our social media platforms and online catalogue so check back for new stock!
