March 23′
A big online push!
As we are fast approaching spring the flowers are starting to submerge and we are beginning to see lighter mornings and nights. We are very much looking forward to the next couple of months with fairs in the pipeline and business in general back to full flow after the beginning of the year. March is always a month of ups and downs with the weather and if you watch the news I’m sure that they will confirm that the beast from the east #2 is on its way maybe tomorrow, next week, or maybe in three weeks but its coming at some point. In jest of course, but we do see beautiful sunshine and even snow in march occasionally, it’s always an interesting month for weather. In sport for those who watch we are well into the Six nations tournament with my home team Scotland currently performing very well and England just hanging in there after coming under new management, its been great watching and every game has been in the balance. We also have the immanent start of the F1 season and I am excited to get back to the racing, come on Verstappen!
At Jacksons Antique we have been focused on building our online presence. In an already vastly popular market it is imperative that our online presence is noticed by old and new clients alike. For the majority of February we have been making small, impactful adjustments to the website and working behind the scenes to allow new clients to find us through various search functions. We have added a simplified ‘show me everything‘ tab which is located under “our collections” tab found at the top of every page. This allows for easy navigation to all our objects found in one place. From there you can filter the amount shown and the order of the objects for example ‘sort by latest’.
Added to our collections this month we have a heavy animal influence which has occurred by complete coincidence but is quite fascinating. In our Japanese collections we have added a fabulous hand carved Okimono featuring two quarrelling hawks, the okimonofeatures exquisite carving detail and the hawks appear fighting with realistic feathers and facial features, we have also added a beautiful Meiji period Bronze seated tiger okimono signed by Omori Mitsumoto (Kogetsu) which appears in unusual form with the tiger seated upright having its tail wrapped around its paws. In our Black Forest collection we have a superb large sized Swiss Black Forest eagle which stands with great presence upon a rocky plinth carved within the piece, a guaranteed eye catcher and excellent talking point. Finally in our ceramics collections we have added a stunning 18th century French Louis XV porcelain snuff box in the form of a recumbent lamb with silver mounts and painted with chinoiserie design in the Kakiemon style, a nice survivor of the period.
