Welcome Friends

January 24′

Dear friends,

I cant believe I am writing the first newsletter on new years day 2024. In light of the new year I want to wish you all a Happy New Year, may the year ahead bring you all good health and good fortune. Before we get started with our newsletter I would like to personally thank everyone who not only attended the new Classic Antiques Fairs at the NEC but especially to those who made purchases from us. I was extremely pleased to be back at the NEC and look forward to more exhibitions going forward.

Our year ahead is, as always looking extremely busy. We have planned out some select fairs for the year and look forward to seeing you all in due course around the country. We will be sending out complimentary tickets and will notify you all of the upcoming dates. We also will be continuing with our partnership at Hemswell Antique Centre after a very successful first year. Our other plans for the year ahead look towards our online presence and creating big growth across our online platform, most of which lies hidden in the backbone of the website. We can definitely say we look forward to what 2024 will bring Jacksons Antique and the trade as a whole so thank you all so much for your continued support which makes all of this possible.

December was an extremely busy month for us and we were really pleased with our sales across the board. All of the objects have found new homes both in the UK, Europe and the USA with a range of new and current clients, thank you to everyone who made purchases. We are pleased to say that we have been fortunate in finding some exceptional items to replace sold ones which we are excited to now bring to the market.

With so many new items to choose from I have selected three objects to feature in the newsletter this month. Firstly from our Japanese collection we are introducing a fine silver and enamel lidded box with well executed pierced enamel work surmounted by a butterfly. Note the intricate work by the artist to both the lid, sides and even the scrollwork feet. It is a stunning example from the Meiji Period (1868-1912) and we are excited to be able to offer the piece via our website.

Our second featured item is the striking White Onyx Polar Bear upon a Rock Crystal ‘Iceberg’ by Faberge sculptor residing at Sandringham, Alfred Pocock. Pocock was one of the sculptors who worked at Sandringham in 1907 alongside Boris Frodman-Cluzel and Frank Lutiger on Fabergé items for King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The Polar Bear represents Pocock’s personal works and is finished with Ruby Eyes.

Our third and final featured item is the wonderful and unusual Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Monkey Group Okimono cast by Shosai. The group features a total of seven Japanese Macaque Monkeys, six infants playing around with their father. This is a more unusual Japanese bronze with a focus on a group of monkeys compared to the more common single monkey or pair of monkeys. It is exceptionally cast with a genuine lifelike look.
