Rare Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Galleon Lamp Franz Xavier BergmaN

WELCOME FRIENDS

March 24′

Dear friends,

With the end of the first quarter of 2024 on the horizon and spring starting to blossom this year I am reaching a landmark in my own life as I will be turning the great age of 30 on the 18th of March. As this falls on a Monday I can assure you all that I will still be answering emails and proactively attending to any sales that come in!

Now onto more news out of the Jacksons Antique office, we have a few months before we will be heading south and exhibiting at the Petworth Park Antique Fair which we absolutely cannot wait to attend after our first successful show last year. Of course complimentary tickets will be available in due course. We hope to see you all at the fair held between the 17th and 19th of May. We are also in talks to be exhibiting at a few other fairs this year which will be announced hopefully in the next newsletter.

Featured this week we have this fantastic and rare Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Galleon Lamp by Franz Xavier Bergman. The Ship is extremely well detailed and a rare example by the renowned Austrian metalworker. Each window on the Galleon is fitted with coloured glass which illuminates when turned on and is finished with every detail you would expect to see on a period ship including a figure head and anchor. The lamp has been tested and is wired for UK electrics ready to plug straight in and enjoy. The Galleon is signed ‘Namgreb’ (Bergman backwards) which was an alternative method Bergman used to sign his objects. It was thought to be used as a pseudonym (nom de plume) often used on Bergman’s erotic bronzes and less conservative pieces.

Why did the antique dresser always win at hide and seek….?

Because it was good at keeping things under wraps!
