Welcome Friends

September 23′
Autumn

Dear Friends, I cant believe we are already into Autumn with our September 1st newsletter. Summer has flown by and we are now beginning to see the Autumn weather with some showers and cooler temperatures hanging around.

At Jacksons Antique we try to work through the summer months hunting for the next latest pieces and then we have a break over the first few weeks of September. We can honestly say as our business has been progressing the last couple of years, this has been our busiest summer ever with sales coming from all our outlets including a huge surge from our stand in the Guardroom at Hemswell Antique Center.

We are seeing huge demand in Japanese Satsuma both for clients who collect and for clients looking for prime decorative value so thank you all for your continued support. I can confirm we have several ‘irons in the fire’ and have some new Satsuma coming in imminently. As mentioned above we will be travelling across the pond for the first few weeks in September and therefore any orders placed between now and our return will be dispatched when we arrive back. We will confirm this directly with any clients making purchases during the next few weeks. Thank you for your understanding.

This month we have added a nice selection of new objects to our collection ranging from bronze sculptures to a large glass perfume bottle. Our favourite pick of the week has to be the Dutch Solid Silver Sugar Sifter in the form of a Snipe Bird. Hallmarked in multiple places the bird stands upon a purpose made plinth stating that it was given as a gift from the ‘Officers of the 60th Rifles’. The 60th Rifles went on to become The King’s Royal Rifle Corps and the snipe was presented to Major J Le Coq on the day of his wedding in 1954. The head of the snipe removes to access the sugar sifter which is a pierced silver section for sprinkling sugar. The Snipe is finished with two glass eyes giving it an overall naturalistic look with high quality casting and realistic shaped feathers.

My grandfather handed me an antique clock, it was missing its minute hand and hour hand

I guess that’s what happens when you get a second hand clock
