Édouard Drouot (1859-1945)
Édouard Drouot was a French sculptor celebrated for his marble and bronze works depicting mythological and allegorical themes. He also explored animalier and Orientalist styles, with his sculptures, whether of animals or figures there were distinguished by their dynamic movement and expressive detail. Born on April 3, 1859, in Sommevoire, France, Drouot studied under the esteemed artist Mathurin Moreau at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1889. Today, his works are held in prestigious collections including the Courtauld Institute in London and the Indiana University Art Museum in Bloomington. Drouot passed away in 1945 in Paris, France.
