Erhard & Sohne

Erhard & Sohne was founded in 1844 by Gottlieb Erhard and his two sons in Schwäbisch Gmünd, about 50km east of Stuttgart in Baden-Wutttemberg, Germany. During the company’s life, they made a variety of products including haberdashery also silver plated or gold plated brass and bronze, dollshouse accessories and toys and obtained a world patent for the manufacture of brass inlay in 1904. They amassed over 3000 employees across 2 factories in 1900, the company took a total transformation in 1945 and specialised in Unimog range of 4-wheel drive utility vehicles and became an important factory for tracked vehicles after WWII.
