Antique European Pottery
Our Antique European Pottery collection covers literally everything that has been potted and derived from clay with materials such as stoneware, terracotta and earthenware.
Pottery is one of the oldest human inventions originating before the Neolithic period (10000BC-2200BC), with ceramic objects discovered in Europe dating to 29,000–25,000 BC. Through thousands of years, pottery has retained its practical use and decorative charm, and many years of development have led us to where we are today.
Our collection includes objects from across Europe, including famous English manufacturers such as Wedgewood, Staffordshire, and Doulton and manufacturers from around continental Europe such as Majolica, Dutch Delft (Dutch Faience) and French Faience.
With such a rich and diverse history, European pottery really has something for everyone. We regularly update our pottery collection with vases, dinnerware, objects, figures, and collector’s pieces in a range of shapes, sizes, and new manufacturers. We don’t limit what we buy, but typically, our dateline ranges from the 18th century through to contemporary pieces. For our European Porcelain wares, please see our European Ceramics collection.
