    From our sculptures collection, we are pleased to offer this decorative Austrian Mastiff dog figure. The figure sculpted out of terracotta modelled as a recumbent Mastiff dog with its head up. Painted in a naturalistic style the Mastiff is fitted with a leather look brown collar and glass eyes. Dating to the early 20th century to late 19th century circa 1900.


    Terracotta is a general term used for earthenware. It is a clay-based unglazed or glazed non-vitreous ceramic fired at relatively low temperatures. Often it is not as refined as other porcelain ceramics and has a biscuit type look and feel with a matt finish opposed to a shiny porcelain.
