Fine Franz Xaver Bergman Horse and Jockey Austrian cold painted bronze figure.The bronze of exceptional form, stood upon a marble base the horse grand in posture stands with its jockey holding the reins, whip to the right hand looking across the field. To the underside belly the traditional Bergman logo of the ‘B’ within an urn with the model number 3927 and the word Geschützt.

Lot Notes: Geschützt (pronounced “guess-shutst”) printed or stamped onto an object such as the horse above is an abbreviation of gesetzlich geschutt, a German phrase that translates as “legally protected”. The term in Germany is similar in meaning to the English word patented, or to the French term depose. Geschützt branded items were active from 1899 onwards and seen across a range of items including Franz Bergman figures.
