Black Forest Inkwell in the form of an owl circa 1880-1900. The owl perched on a a thick wooden tree branch profusely carved with realistic feathers and glass eyes tinted in a red and orange colour with piercing black pupils. To the front sits a hollowed out pen holder carved into the stem of the branch whilst the inkwell sits hidden between the two with a wooden hinged lid. The piece patinated in two different colours with the owl a light brown meeting the branches in a darker reddish colour.
Condition: Very good, minor wear and age related markings.
