    ENAMEL (VITREOUS ENAMEL)

also known as porcelain enamel, is a material made by fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 °C. The powder melts, flows, and then hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating. The word vitreous comes from the Latin vitreous, meaning “glassy”.

    Chinoiserie

from ‘chinois’ the French for Chinese. Chinoiserie was a style inspired by art and design from China, Japan and other Asian countries in the 18th century. At its height in Britain in the 18th century particularly 1750 to 1765, this fanciful style relied more on the designer or painters imagination than actually on accurately portraying oriental motifs and ornament.
