    Fine and unusual French late 19th century bronze cherub holding strawberries by renowned French maker Emile Pinedo 1840-1916. The bronze of fine colour upon a rouge marble base cast as a girl balanced on one foot holding two large strawberries with the stem across her shoulders. Signed Pinedo with bronze guarantee stamp paris. Across the front of the base a ribbon like period label with Expos’on des beaux-arts showing the piece was exhibited at the Beaux-Arts in Paris.

    Notes | Emile Pinedo was a French sculptor born in 1840, he was known for producing high quality bronzes of mainly figural subjects succeeding his father in 1865 and debuting at the Paris Salon in 1870.

    Condition | Excellent, beautiful patination across the whole bronze, nose with rubbing from cleaning, minor nicks in the marble base.
