    From our collectables category, we are thrilled to introduce this outstanding French Gold and Enamel Perfume Bottle. The Perfume Bottle is mounted in a hallmarked 18k gold frame with a stunning enamel body featuring renaissance inspired scenes with multiple winged cherubs with scantily cladded females surrounding a pink hue enamel. The lid with matching scenes having cherubs amongst a bed of roses. The gold mount is beautifully crafted with a rope work border with highly detailed mounts around the lid. The perfume bottle contains its original gold stopper within having remnants of the original cork stopper and is hallmarked three times with the French 18k gold eagle head hallmark. The Perfume Bottle dates to the second half of the 19th century circa 1875 during the Belle Epoque period (1871-1914).


    Enamel (vitreous enamel) also known as porcelain enamel, is a material made by fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 °C. The powder melts, flows, and then hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating. The word vitreous comes from the Latin vitreus, meaning “glassy”.

    Renaissance (French for rebirth) describes the great revival of art that took place in Italy from about 1400 under the influence of the rediscovery of classical art and culture. From the Renaissance, a world renowned design originating in Europe which has been interpreted and influenced across the art and antique market along with architecture for the last 600+ years. Many of the most famous artists and designers draw inspiration still from designs made during the Renaissance named Renaissance Revival, or sometimes after the antique.

    Belle Epoque is a period of French, Belgian and European history. It began in the early 1870’s and to ended with the outbreak of World War I in 1914.
