Description
Fine and large Japanese Meiji period satsuma earthenware bowl. The bowl of nice size potted with a scalloped edge with a black and gold border extensively decorated with scrolling vines and blossoming flowers throughout. The exterior with four scenes displaying multiple figures with children mostly in seated positions. The base of the bowl with a flat circular foot rim with a further wave like black and gold trim border. To the base a gold six character mark features beneath the Satsuma Mon reading Kozan, most likely early Makuzu wear. Dating to the Meiji period Circa 1880.
