Jungin Pure Silver 純銀
From our Japanese collection, we are delighted to offer this Japanese Meiji Period Silver Box by Masayuki 政之. The Japanese Box of slender rectangular form is lined in rosewood and mounted in Japanese pure silver stamped with a Jungin 純銀 silver mark. The top of the Japanese Box is fitted with a shibuichi copper plaque decorated with katakiribori (engraving with an angled chisel emulating brushstrokes) having gold and silver inlay with a large repousse sack full of objects including as daikoku’s mallet and is signed Masayuki 政之. The Japanese Box dates to the late 19th century during the Meiji Period (1868-1912) circa 1890.
