Meiji period Japanese satsuma vase decorated with pigeons, foliage, flowers and boarders .The vase of tapered shape tastefully finished in a cream base glaze with a linear boarder of green and red with black outlines. To the centre the main subject pictures three pigeons ground feeding amongst foliage. Around the vase a further three pigeons are in flight a pair together and a single bird flying in opposite directions. To the lower section of the vase a similar linear boarder with black and gold surrounds the splayed base. Underneath the vase bares a signature partially covered by the original ‘made in japan’ export label.
