From our Japanese collection we are absolutely delighted to offer this beautiful Japanese satsuma vase by Kinkozan dating to the Meiji period. The vase of tapered form with tightly pinched neck, small mouth opening and splayed foot. The vase extensively decorated to the highest standard with geometric gilt boarders stemming into the two large scenes on the body of the vase. A traditional polychrome Japanese landscape features on one scene with mountains to the background with large evergreen trees covering a building with figures to the foreground holding a banner with a blessing for peace upon it reading ‘peace reigns over the land’ 天下太平. To the second scene a stunning flower arrangement with string vines and blossoming pink chrysanthemums amongst other coloured flowers within a traditional Japanese basket. A four character Kinkozan mark on the base finishes the vase.
