Fine Meissen porcelain figural group model number 186. The porcelain figures around a Clavichord piano named ‘Gallant couple at Clavichord. The group beautifully modelled with a male figure dressed in white with gilt accents standing behind a female figure seated at the instrument dressed in a yellow floral dress and violet jacket with stars. Marked to the base with the blue underglaze Meissen sword mark of first quality. Model number 186, former number 8528 circa 1860 designed by Johann Joachim Kandler circa 1741.
Notes | Johann Joachim Kandler (1706-1775) was a German sculpture who became the most prominent sculptor from the Meissen porcelain factory, and arguably the most important across Europe. He worked for Meissen between 1731-1755 with a career spanning over 40 years.
