20th Century Art Deco bronze sculpture by Serge Zélikson. The nude women upon a portoro black marble base with copper coloured veins completed in simple angular shapes. The base of the figure cast as a square with the base of a column. The nude female with one foot cast upon the column top with the other foot crossed above the knee head back pushing the palms of her hands outwards. Signed to the base S. Zélikson La. Tentation simply translated as The Temptation.

Lot Notes: Serge Zélikson (1890-1960) originates from Belarus during the Russian Empire and arrived in Paris in 1912. During this time he was awarded a scholarship at the l’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Throughout his career he became a successful sculptor, medal maker and engraver. He is most well known for his bust of Beethoven which is his most common sculpture. In 1920 he assumed French nationality giving the Russian born artist a French-Russian nationality.

Condition: Very Good – Excellent, untouched original condition, wear consistent with age, minor fretting to the edges of the marble.
