20th Century Art Deco bronze sculpture by Serge Zélikson. The nude women upon a portoro black marble base with copper coloured veins completed in simple angular shapes. The base of the figure cast as a semi-circule with the nude femal perched upon it on her tip toes. The Female in full dance motion with her hands together creating a circle between her body and arms. Head to one side suggestive she is in a spinning motion. Signed to the base S. Zélikson. Etoile. Dévoilée simply translated as unveiled star.

Lot Notes: Serge Zélikson (1890-1960) originates from Belarus during the Russian Empire and arrived in Paris in 1912. During this time he was awarded a scholarship at the l’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Throughout his career he became a successful sculptor, medal maker and engraver. He is most well known for his bust of Beethoven which is his most common sculpture. In 1920 he assumed French nationality giving the Russian born artist a French-Russian nationality.

Condition: Very Good – Excellent, untouched original condition, wear consistent with age, minor fretting to the edges of the marble with one small chip to the marble.
