From our Cigarette Cases collection, we are delighted to offer this Silver and Enamel Dog Cigarette Case. The Cigarette Case of slim rectangular form with rounded corners is beautifully finished to the exterior with an enamel Great Dane dog wearing a brown collar. The inside of the Silver case is stamped 800 for the purity of silver 800/1000 with a partially rubbed makers mark. The Silver and Enamel Dog Cigarette Case dates to the turn of the 20th century and the late Art Nouveau period around 1910.
Great Dane
is a German breed of large mastiff-sighthound. The Great Dane descends from hunting dogs of the Middle Ages originally used to hunt bears, wild boar, and deer. They were also used as guardian dogs of German nobility. It is one of the two largest dog breeds in the world.
