Huge Sized Carving
From our Black Forest collection we are delighted to offer this large sized Swiss Black Forest Walnut Golden Eagle carving. The Golden Eagle beautifully carved with exceptional detail throughout perched upon a rocky outcrop with a rounded base. The eagle with menacing talons grasping into the rock while the eagle looks on into the distance about to take flight. The bird carved of walnut with blackened feathers, glass eyes and a large hooked beak. A fantastic example from world famous carvers in Switzerland and a beautiful centre piece for a room with a great talking point. The Golden Eagle dates to the late 19th century circa 1890. We have attributed this Golden Eagle to one of the Ruef Brothers due to the extremely close similarities to one found catalogued in the book ‘The Art of the Black Forest’.

Condition
Very Good condition, some old repairs to the wings and beak and some stress cracking in places. This is commonly seen with Black Forest pieces especially the larger carvings due to the environment causing expansion and contraction to the wood.
