1942 Ulysse Nardin ministry of defence (MOD) hydrographic department chronometer pocket watch complete with original box. Originally given to military personal such as deck hands upon military ships. This particular piece is encased within its original box topped by a circular logo with an arrow between the initials C.W (chronometer watch) Nardin and No. 122653 correctly matching the number upon the watch face and the movement. The watch encased within 925 silver with a white face and black roman numerals.
Lot Notes: Ulysse Nardin became known in the nautical world for manufacturing highly accurate marine chronometers and complicated timepieces used by over fifty of the world’s navies from the end of the 19th century till 1950. Ulysse Nardin has won numerous awards and honours for its marine chronometers between 1846 to 1975. In 1983 the company was taken over and re-invigorated by Rolf W. Schnyder who transformed it into a profitable business once again.
Since 2014, it has been a subsidiary of the French Kering Group. Ulysse Nardin has operated out of the same building headquartered in Switzerland since 1865. The company today designs and manufactures luxury watches, dual time watches, marine chronometers, and sells its products through an important network of distributors and several boutiques around the world.
