Description
Fine Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos clock circa 1970. The atmospheric clock beautifully presented in a gold coloured four glass with a brushed finish. Renowned for the atmospheric movement the clock requires no winding or continued maintenence. Once running, the clock runs itself via differential atmospheric pressures within a sealed circular unit seen from the rear of the clock containing the bellows. A floating style pendulum swings moving the hands gently in this mesmerizing four glass clock. This particular timepiece is in excellent working condition after being fully serviced, stripped and cleaned throughout. The clock is numbered 430595 with movement caliber 528-8. Please note all Atmos clocks require precise set up and a level base to ensure they run correctly.
Notes | Atmos is a brand name of a clock manufactured by Jaeger LeCoultre luxury watch and clock company Switzerland. The clock is a mechanical torsion pendulum clock and does not require manual winding. It gets the energy it needs to run from temperature and atmospheric pressure changes in the environment, and can run for years without human intervention via the complex internal mechanical movement. The clock is driven by a main spring which is wound by the expansion and contraction within the sealed bellows to the rear. The first Atmos clock was designed by Jean-Léon Reutter, an engineer in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in 1928. So called ‘Reutter’ models are some of the most collectable in the range due to the age and originality of the clocks, and more often than not fetch the highest demand in price.
